DESCRIPTION:The Carrabelle History Museum is proud to present a featured exhibit\, “Foundations of Freedom – Carrabelle’s Role in America’s Story” made possible by a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. This exhibit will officially open on Saturday\, July 4  and be on display until September 30\, with sneak preview opportunities available on July 2 and 3. This unique exhibit\, in honor of America’s 250th birthday\, tells the story of Carrabelle’s history\, independence\, democratic participation\, and civic identity through artifacts\, photographs\, and stories. Visitors can explore this exhibit on Wednesdays from 12 to 5 pm ET\, Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm ET\, and Sundays from 12 to 5 pm ET. Admission is free\, with donations warmly welcomed. \nThe exhibit is supported in part through the Duke Energy Foundation’s America250 grant initiative\, which helps communities commemorate America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Through this initiative\, the Duke Energy Foundation is investing in projects that inspire civic pride\, strengthen communities\, and celebrate the nation’s history.  \nThrough stories of Carrabelle’s mayors through time along with original artifacts\, large-scale historic photographs and interpretive signage\, the exhibit highlights how democracy functioned at the grassroots level and showcases civic leadership across generations. This project preserves and displays civic artifacts\, provides free access to historical education for residents and visitors\, and strengthens civic pride in Carrabelle’s role in America’s democratic journey. \nOther highlights of the exhibit include original ballot boxes\, paper ballots from 1909 and several periods of the 20th century\, 1940s municipal court log books\, city clerk journals\, and founding documents. These artifacts reveal how citizens voted\, resolved disputes\, and organized local government\, demonstrating how engaged citizens and elected officials helped shape the history of Carrabelle and Florida’s Forgotten Coast. Families and young visitors can also enjoy America250 activities\, including patriotic coloring sheets and word searches. \nHoused inside Carrabelle’s historic City Hall and using the very room where the justice of the peace\, municipal court\, city commission\, and mayors once governed\, the exhibit uses the building itself as both artifact and backdrop. Our community’s finest vendors will be there\, offering a diverse array of goodies that make perfect gifts or treats for yourself at this open-air market. \nIndulge in locally handmade jewelry\, farm-fresh produce\, freshly roasted coffee\, mouthwatering baked goods (yes\, we’re talking cinnamon rolls and artisan breads!)\, handcrafted balms\, grass fed beef\, aromatic herbs\, stunning art and photography\, handmade crafts\, and so much more. Plus\, there will be book signings\, unique t-shirts\, vegetable seeds\, and exotic starter plants to explore. \nWhile you’re here\, don’t miss out on a visit to the free Keeper’s House Museum\, where you can marvel at our brand new exhibit featuring the historic Fresnel lens. DESCRIPTION:The Crooked River Lighthouse invites visitors to Twilight at the Tower on Saturday\, September 5 from 7:00-9:00 pm ET in Carrabelle\, FL. This relaxing evening event offers after-hours museum visits\, gift shop browsing\, twilight tower climbs\, and the peaceful natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as evening falls. Guests will enjoy live music from the talented Harold Boothe from 7:00-8:30 pm. Admission is FREE. Evening climbs are $6 for the public\, free for current members and free for kids 12 and under with a ticketed adult.  \nHarold Boothe will bring his signature laid-back coastal sound to the evening\, blending trop-rock\, coastal country and singer-songwriter storytelling. Influenced by the beach-bar lifestyle of the Gulf Coast\, Key West and the Caribbean\, as well as the storytelling traditions of Nashville and the South\, his music combines melodies and relatable stories with touches of country\, rock\, jazz and blues.  \nA lifelong songwriter\, Boothe draws inspiration from the people\, places and experiences around him\, from the rural South and Nashville to coastal communities and Caribbean islands. His songs capture warm breezes\, waterfront sunsets\, good friends and everyday life\, creating music that is relaxed and engaging. Boothe’s music is a perfect fit for a memorable evening of music and twilight views at the Crooked River Lighthouse.  \nThe Keeper’s House Museum will be open for special evening hours\, featuring the lighthouse’s original Fourth Order Fresnel lens\, constructed in Paris\, France\, in 1894. Visitors can also browse the lighthouse gift shop for unique nautical gifts and souvenirs. The Beacon Bistro will offer baked goodies\, popcorn\, and refreshments by donation. Plus guests can enjoy food and beverages from the LINK Sausages & Beer Food Truck.  Guests are encouraged to kick back\, relax on the lighthouse grounds\, and enjoy a memorable evening beneath the summer sky.  \nFor those looking for an unforgettable view\, twilight tower climbs provide a chance to experience the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast from the top. Climbers will enjoy panoramic views of St. George Sound\, Carrabelle Beach\, and the beautiful colors of twilight stretching across the horizon as dusk settles over the coast.  \nAdvance climb tickets are encouraged. Evening climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals and all climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. DESCRIPTION:The Carrabelle History Museum is proud to present a featured exhibit\, “Foundations of Freedom – Carrabelle’s Role in America’s Story” made possible by a grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. This exhibit will officially open on Saturday\, July 4  and be on display until September 30\, with sneak preview opportunities available on July 2 and 3. This unique exhibit\, in honor of America’s 250th birthday\, tells the story of Carrabelle’s history\, independence\, democratic participation\, and civic identity through artifacts\, photographs\, and stories. Visitors can explore this exhibit on Wednesdays from 12 to 5 pm ET\, Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm ET\, and Sundays from 12 to 5 pm ET. Admission is free\, with donations warmly welcomed. \nThe exhibit is supported in part through the Duke Energy Foundation’s America250 grant initiative\, which helps communities commemorate America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Through this initiative\, the Duke Energy Foundation is investing in projects that inspire civic pride\, strengthen communities\, and celebrate the nation’s history.  \nThrough stories of Carrabelle’s mayors through time along with original artifacts\, large-scale historic photographs and interpretive signage\, the exhibit highlights how democracy functioned at the grassroots level and showcases civic leadership across generations. This project preserves and displays civic artifacts\, provides free access to historical education for residents and visitors\, and strengthens civic pride in Carrabelle’s role in America’s democratic journey. \nOther highlights of the exhibit include original ballot boxes\, paper ballots from 1909 and several periods of the 20th century\, 1940s municipal court log books\, city clerk journals\, and founding documents. These artifacts reveal how citizens voted\, resolved disputes\, and organized local government\, demonstrating how engaged citizens and elected officials helped shape the history of Carrabelle and Florida’s Forgotten Coast. Families and young visitors can also enjoy America250 activities\, including patriotic coloring sheets and word searches. \nHoused inside Carrabelle’s historic City Hall and using the very room where the justice of the peace\, municipal court\, city commission\, and mayors once governed\, the exhibit uses the building itself as both artifact and backdrop. The exhibit brings Carrabelle’s founding story and civic heritage to life inside the room where local democracy unfolded for decades.  \nSponsored by the Duke Energy Foundation.
