SUMMARY:Eastpoint: Minecraft Archaeology and Genealogy Basics
DESCRIPTION:Unearth a Week of Adventure with the Summer Reading Program  \nThe 2026 Summer Reading Program\, “Unearth a Story\,” wraps up with the final week\, July 19-25\, at the Franklin County Public Libraries. The week’s free programs will explore stories\, science\, history\, and creativity through interactive experiences inspired by archaeology\, dinosaurs\, fossils\, ancient civilizations\, earth science\, and America 250. Designed to spark curiosity\, inspire exploration\, promote literacy\, and encourage community engagement for all ages\, all programs are open to the public and no library card is required.  \nIn addition\, both branches will host a Summer Reading Challenge\, America 250 activities and interactive displays including opportunities to track reading goals\, attend programs\, and earn prizes\, participate in patriotic crafts or coloring stations\, pick up a pocket Constitution and Declaration of Independence\, and enjoy archaeology\, dinosaurs\, fossils\, and exploration  themed decorations. \nWeek Six (July 19 – July 25) at Eastpoint\n\nMonday\, July 20 – Minecraft Archaeology at the Eastpoint Branch at 1 PM. This gaming-inspired program combines Minecraft with archaeology concepts\, encouraging participants to explore excavation\, discovery\, and creativity in a fun digital format.\n\n  \n\nThursday\, July 23 – Genealogy Basics at the Eastpoint Branch at 2 PM. This introductory genealogy workshop teaches participants how to begin researching family history using library resources\, online databases such as Family Search\, and historical records.\n\n  \nAlso at Carrabelle \n\nWednesday\, July 22 – Fossil Making at the Carrabelle Branch at 1 PM. Participants will create their own fossil replicas using clay and natural textures while learning about paleontology and fossil preservation.\n\n\nFriday\, July 24 – Local Trivia Night at the Carrabelle Branch at 5 PM. A fun community trivia event featuring questions about Franklin County history\, local landmarks\, Florida facts\, and community culture.\n\nSummer Reading is an annual program that brings children\, teens\, and families to local public libraries for reading and activities.
