SUMMARY:Chinese New Year\, Tech Class\, Writer’s Forum\, Adult Craft\, Video Game Hour\, and Soup Sale 
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries (FFCPL) announces a week filled with creativity\, connection\, and community at the Eastpoint and Carrabelle Branches of the Franklin County Public Libraries through their popular Program Series. All library programs are free and open to the public with no library card required.  \nA Chinese Lunar New Year Storytime & Activity will be held on Monday\, February 16 at 1:30pm at the Eastpoint Branch. This program celebrates the Year of the Dragon with a festive storytime full of sound\, color\, and creativity. Guests will experience a beautifully illustrated\, interactive eBook on the Smart Board\, brought to life with immersive sound effects from Novel Effect. After the story\, children can enjoy a hands‑on craft activity of all ages inspired by Lunar New Year traditions.  \nA Tech Class will be offered on Tuesday\, February 17 at 10:30 AM at the Eastpoint Branch. This hands-on tech class helps participants build digital confidence and learn how to get things done online. Registration is encouraged. \nThe Writer’s Forum meets on Wednesday\, February 18 at 1 PM at the Eastpoint Branch. Attendees are welcome to share their work\, get inspired\, and connect with fellow writers. Writers of all genres and experience levels are invited. \nAdult Crafternoon: Hanging Hand Towel takes place on Thursday\, February 19 at 2:30 PM at the Carrabelle Branch. Guests will sew a hand towel to a potholder at an easy\, relaxed hands-on lesson with a sewing machine. Open to adults of all skill levels.   \nA Video Game Hour will be held on Friday\, February 20 at 4:30 PM at the Carrabelle Branch. Teens and tweens are invited to unwind and compete on the Nintendo Switch.  \nThe Souper Celebration: Soup\, Bread & Book Sale happens Saturday\, February 21 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Carrabelle Branch. Visitors can enjoy live music and artisan displays while browsing locally made soups\, breads along with used books.  \nThese programs are supported by the Friends of the Franklin County Public Libraries\, a 501(c)(3) organization. SUMMARY:Special Exhibit: Honoring our African American Servicemembers
DESCRIPTION:Camp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum in Carrabelle is presenting a special exhibit in recognition of Black History Month honoring  the service of African-American servicemembers in WWII. This exhibit will open Tuesday\, February 3\, 2026 and will be on display at the museum until Saturday\, February 28\, 2026. The museum is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm ET and there is no charge for admission.  \nAfrican Americans served in large numbers during WWII despite being denied full rights as American citizens. They served in segregated units in both the Army and the Army Air Corps\, one of the most recognizable being the Tuskegee Airmen. Many African American soldiers trained at Camp Gordon Johnston in transportation units such as Amphibious Truck Companies\, where support units often worked close to combat and came under fire. \nAt Camp Gordon Johnston\, these Amphibious Truck Companies trained in the use of the amphibious truck known as the DUKW\, using the bay and sandy beaches in Carrabelle and all along the Forgotten Coast to practice operating\, loading and unloading these truly amphibious vehicles. The Museum continues its research into the units that trained at Camp Gordon Johnston in Carrabelle and served in World War II including being part of the campaign on Iwo Jima.  \nThis exhibit will share what has been uncovered about these servicemen who\, like many African Americans of the era\, served their country with honor in a still-segregated military and faced significant challenges along the way. \nCamp Gordon Johnston WWII Museum is located in Carrabelle\, directly across from Carrabelle Public Beach Park at 1873 Hwy 98 West. Our community’s finest vendors will be there\, offering a diverse array of goodies that make perfect gifts or treats for yourself at this open-air market. \nIndulge in locally handmade jewelry\, farm-fresh produce\, freshly roasted coffee\, mouthwatering baked goods (yes\, we’re talking cinnamon rolls and artisan breads!)\, handcrafted balms\, grass fed beef\, aromatic herbs\, stunning art and photography\, handmade crafts\, and so much more. Plus\, there will be book signings\, unique t-shirts\, vegetable seeds\, and exotic starter plants to explore. \nWhile you’re here\, don’t miss out on a visit to the free Keeper’s House Museum\, where you can marvel at our brand new exhibit featuring the historic Fresnel lens. DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Franklin County Public Libraries invite everyone to a delicious and fun-filled Souper Celebration\, a Soup\, Bread\, and Book Sale Event on Saturday\, February 21\, 2026 at the Carrabelle Branch Library\, 311 St. James Avenue / Hwy 98\, Carrabelle\, FL. This event will be open to the public from 10 am – 2 pm ET. Members of the Friends have exclusive early access starting at 9:30 am. Also new members\, renewing members\, and those donating can get a Friends tote bag. This fun celebration will offer local culture and art\, with live music from the “Ukulilies” and local artisans from the SGI Quilters and the Lanark Village Wandering Star Quilters showcasing some of their stunning local goods. This is a family friendly event and all are welcome.   \nThis annual event features delicious homemade soups\, freshly baked artisan breads and used books and DVDs. Local residents bring their delicious homemade soups from seafood bisques and gumbos to chili and Brunswick stew\, along with freshly baked breads. With dozens of soups ranging from exotic to healthy to old-fashioned\, visitors are encouraged to come early to get the best selection before they sell out.  \nThe celebration highlights local culture and artistry\, including a live performance by the “Ukulilies\,” a talented group of ukulele players and singers known for their cheerful tunes and positive vibes. Their repertoire of sing-along songs is perfect for audiences of all ages\, making it a delightful musical experience for the whole family. Adding to the day’s charm\, the SGI Quilters and Lanark Village Wandering Star Quilters will showcase their beautiful handmade creations. These talented quilters celebrate the art of quilting as both a cherished tradition and a modern craft.
